Default DefCon.

It's not exactly a new game, but I was recently introduced to it. Anyone else here play it? I'm playing the demo ATM, but I like it enough to drop some cash on it next month. It's kinda like a prequel to Fallout

Oh, and you know those genocide, starvation and overpopulation problems they're having in Africa? I don't think they're a problem anymore (92.5% of Africa's total population burned to cinders).

I don't play it, but I've watched some videos of it on gamespot.com

It looks kind of weird, it doesn't seem like the guy on the video is actually doing something.

Like, what's the purpose of the game?

Pardon the pun, buf DEFCON is a complete blast. I've played it since release (whenever I can find time to, anyway). If you've ever seen the 80's flick WarGames (w/ Matthew Broderick) it's kinda like the "simulation" that the WOPR/Joshua runs near the end of that movie.

Basically, Aera, the premise is that each player controls a superpower that slowly goes from DEFCON 5 (the US DEFense CONdition - indicates the level of war that exists for that country - other nations may be different) to DEFCON 1 - full-on nuclear war. Once DEFCON 1 is reached, each nation may launch their missiles at the other nations. The "winner" is whoever loses the least people.

It's a kind of grim fun, if you are the type to consider the real life implications of it, but as far as games go, it's a fun, short, simple strategy game.

Only in Defcon will the human race ever be able to solve the overpopulation and genocide in Africa. 92.5% of the population, incinerated Damn I'm good.

EDIT: to be fair, the Africa player was a noob. Didn't get all his fleets into play XD
